About Me
Clinical work
I have enjoyed running my own private counselling and psychotherapy
practice for the last twelve years, supporting both clients (individuals
and couples) and
supervisees (fellow practitioners). I have wide experience of working with
a diverse range of clients and supervisees, of differing genders, ages,
sexual orientations and socio-economic classes, with differing cultural, racial
and
religious backgrounds, and about many different issues. For example, I often
see clients who have stress related problems. These could be to do with relationships,
work, illness or general life stresses.
Other counselling related work
I have been involved in explicit and non-explicit
counselling and psychotherapy related work for the last thirty years,
in a variety of settings, for
example, in schools (as a teacher and advisory teacher, with pastoral
and line management
responsibility), in a University counselling service, and in healthcare
settings.
Other counselling and psychotherapy related interests and experience
I also
enjoy both training and researching. I am an experienced group facilitator
and trainer, having run courses, workshops, groups, seminars, etc., both
in the field of counselling/psychotherapy and education. I have also conducted
a large
amount of research, some in the field of education, but mostly counselling/psychotherapy
related, focusing on the quality of the service we offer as practitioners.
My results, and related issues, have been published widely in counselling
and psychotherapy
publications.
